Sources at Eurogamer – who leaked accurate information about the Nintendo Switch before its reveal – have made claims that development has already started for the SNES Classic, and it should be hitting store shelves before the holiday season this year.

This rumor has yet to be confirmed by Nintendo, and we don’t have any further details on what games might be included. It also remains to be seen whether this new console will fix some of the technical issues that users encountered with the NES Classic Edition.

If this does turn out to be true, we have to wonder whether or not we’ll see the same supply issues that we saw with the NES Classic and even the Switch. Nintendo is infamous for producing a supply that’s far lower than demand, which creates some serious competition when it comes to pre-ordering.

But for now, we’ll just have to wait for official word from Nintendo to get more information. The company has been contacted for comment but is remaining tight-lipped thus far.
